environmentalThe primary function of the Kankakee County Health Department’s Environmental Health division is to prevent disease. Each county health department has an Environmental Health Office.

The Kankakee County Health Department’s Environmental Health Division conducts routine inspections of public facilities such as restaurants, grocery stores, schools, tanning facilities, etc. The Kankakee County Environmental Health Division will also respond to complaints made by private citizens regarding unsanitary conditions within the county that do not meet current code standards.

Other services available include: sampling of private drinking water at risk for contamination, investigation of foodborne illnesses, also inspection of on-site sewage disposal systems, and private water supplies.
