Environmental Health – (815) 802-9410
Food Sanitation
Inspects and licenses retail food stores and food service establishments.
Well Water Supplies
Issues well permits. Deals with testing of well water and sealing of abandoned wells.
Nuisance & Solid Waste
Investigates insect, rodent and garbage complaints.
Private Sewage Disposal
Assists property owners with septic system installation. Issues permits, inspects and records system location.
Chronic & Communicable Diseases – (815) 802-9430
HIV/STD Counseling & Testing – (815) 802-9434
Provides treatment for sexually transmitted diseases. Counseling and testing available for HIV. HIV anonymous testing by appointment.
Communicable Disease
Investigates and controls communicable disease outbreaks. Provides education and prevention. Flu and pneumonia vaccines available each fall.
Tuberculosis Control
Provides outpatient skin-testing, x-rays as needed, diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis.
School Programs
Screens children in school and pre-school for vision and hearing problems.
Cancer Screening – (815) 802-9440
Provides comprehensive breast and cervical cancer screening and case management services to eligible women. Screenings at local facilities by appointment.
Lead Screening – (815) 802-9436
Tests children ages 6 months to 17 years for lead poisoning. Provides education and counseling. Appointments are required.
Health Promotion – (815) 802-9395
Health Education
Serves as resource for community education on pregnancy, teens, healthy lifestyles, heart disease, injury prevention, HIV/AIDS, etc. Provides speakers on health topics to community groups and organizations. Provides health related statistics upon request.
Smoking Prevention/Cessation
Provides prevention programs and tobacco cessation clinic for adults.
Maternal/Child Health Services – (815) 802-9320
Clinical Services
Provides diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, HIB, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, meningococcal immunizations, lead and hemoglobin testing and tuberculin skin testing. Appointments are required.
WIC
Provides nutrition education, health screening and nutritious foods to eligible pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding women, their infants, and young children with special nutrition and health needs.
Health Works – (815) 802-9300
Provides comprehensive health services to children in the custody of DCFS.
AllKids
Enrolls eligible children, pregnant women, and parents living with their child/children for health insurance provided by the State of Illinois.
Family Case Management
Assists eligible pregnant women and young children with obtaining access to prenatal and well child care, immunizations and screenings.
Genetics
Provides education and referral for screening and follow-up counseling for genetic diseases.
