KCHD issues well permits for the construction of private wells in areas where public water is not available, conducting inspections to assure proper installation. Conducts evaluations of existing systems, collects samples, evaluates findings, and makes recommendations for repairs or disinfection procedures.
Water Sampling
We provide water sample kits to sample your well water for nitrates and coliform. You can pick up a kit Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. Kits need to be returned to the Health Department the same day the sample is taken by 3:00 pm. KCHD accepts samples Monday,Tuesday, and Wednesday. See sample guidelines for testing procedures.
