All food establishments need to have a license through the Kankakee County Health Department. This includes starting a new establishment, or a change of ownership for an existing establishment. We encourage food establishment owners contact us early on to review plans and process the license application.

If you are looking to take over ownership and/or control of an existing business please fill out our Change of Ownership Form (below). You would also need to submit a new license application for the establishment with the new updated information and pay the appropriate fee (see fee schedule for risk based fee).

All active food establishment must apply for a new food license annually. Applications are due by January 1st. Applications received after January 15th will be charged a late fee of $50.00; after January 30th a late fee of $100.00 will be assessed.
