Kankakee County Teen Conference Workshop Information
What is it?
The Teen Conference is a joint effort of the Kankakee County Health Department and the Kankakee County Teen Conference Steering Committee Coordinator: Linda Hildebrandt, Kankakee County Health Educator
Over 500 8th and 9th grade youth from 26 public, private and parochial schools in Kankakee County attend this conference. Thirty six school chaperons, thirty five presenters, twenty five adult volunteers and nine committee members assist with the conference day activities.
The conference will include 20-25 workshops based on prevention, leadership, self-esteem, healthy choices and decision-making skills. Each workshop is 45 minutes long and includes student participation or interaction. The youth select 6 workshops from those listed on a registration form, and the computer registration process will place them into three of the 6 selected workshops.
Also included in the conference is a motivational keynote speaker and a general session focusing on healthy choices/decisions.
For further information, contact Linda Hildebrandt at (815) 802-9395.
